🏀 How Dennis Rodman Nearly Lost Everything

Charles Barkley signs a $200M TNT contract, Deion Sanders teases power 5 move, and how Dennis Rodman nearly "lost everything."

Happy Humpday!

CHARLES BARKLEY

Charles Barkley Signs a $200M TNT Contract

Charles Barkley could make five times his NBA career earnings with his latest TNT deal! The New York Post reported that Barkley signed a 10-year contract extension that could pay him as much as $200M.

Alongside Barkley, Shaq, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith all snagged new deals, ensuring the infamous squad will stay together for many more years.

Barkley made headlines earlier this summer when he admitted to entertaining offers to leave TNT for the controversial LIV Golf League, but it appears that may have just been some very savvy negotiating. Barkley still has three years left on his current contract worth $10M per year, and while it’s unknown if Barkley plans on broadcasting for the entire length of this new contract, we know it'll be on TNT.

DEION SANDERS

Deion Sanders Teases Power 5 Move

Deion Sanders is quickly building one of the wildest resumes in pro sports. Not only did he win two Super Bowls and play in a World Series, but he's rapidly becoming a college football coaching sensation.

Despite Sanders having no collegiate head coaching experience when he took over the job at Jackson State in 2020, he's been hugely successful and has completely transformed the program. The team is currently undefeated after winning a school-record 11 games last season. He even managed to pry the number 1 high school recruit, Travis Hunter, away from his Florida State commitment and onto the Jackson State roster. Naturally, people are speculating about where Sanders might take his talents next.

The good news for Jackson State fans is Sanders isn't interested in NFL coaching jobs at all, but he's keeping his options open within the NCAA. During a recent "60 Minutes" interview, Sanders said he'd "be a fool not to" consider offers within the Power 5 conference ranks. No such offers have presented themselves yet, but with all of this success, it’s only a matter of time.

DENNIS RODMAN

How Dennis Rodman Nearly "Lost Everything"

Dennis Rodman has lived a pretty wild life, to say the least. But things haven’t always been easy for the five-time NBA champ, and by 2003 Rodman nearly went broke! According to Dwight Manley, his friend turned business advisor and agent, things got so bad on Rodman’s end that a teary-eyed Rodman once came to him and confessed that he “[was] going to lose everything.”

Manley may have had one of the strangest paths to becoming an NBA agent in NBA history. Manley was best known as a coin collector before developing a lifelong friendship that started at a Las Vegas craps table. Manley was instrumental in helping Rodman develop his larger-than-life persona by landing his client some massive deals and orchestrating some pretty wild publicity stunts.

Around the time of this breakdown, Rodman gave an interview to the New York Times, where he candidly spoke about his financial troubles. He said: “I've lost almost everything. But the only person I have to blame is Dennis Rodman. That's O.K. by me. Money doesn't mean a lot.'' Today Rodman’s net worth is reportedly only $500,000.
