DONOVAN MITCHELL
Donovan Mitchell Shockingly Traded to the Cavs
In a shocking turn of events, Donovan Mitchell is heading to Cleveland! Nearly everyone assumed Mitchell was going to be traded to the Knicks but the Cavaliers swooped in and have dramatically shaken up the power rankings out East.
According to Woj, New York declined a deal Monday night, allowing Cleveland GM Koby Altman to re-engage with Utah on Tuesday and re-assemble a deal they'd been working on in previous weeks.
The price for Mitchell was high, although arguably not as high as people expected. The Jazz received three unprotected first-round picks in 2025, 2027, and 2029, pick swaps in 2026 and 2028, Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, and recent first-round pick, Ochai Agbaji. Sexton agreed to a four-year $72M sign-and-trade as part of this deal.
The Jazz are fully in the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes and have amassed an astounding 15 unprotected or lightly protected picks through 2029 in exchange for Gobert and Mitchell.
STEPH CURRY
Steph Curry Receives Long-Awaited Honor at Alma Mater
Steph Curry recently returned to Davidson College, the program that gave the undersized, relatively unknown point guard his big break, and was treated to a night of fanfare and celebration.
Curry received his diploma, was inducted into the collegeās Hall of Fame, and finally had his number retired. Davidson College has a strict rule about retiring numbers, one that Curry was well aware of. In order for your number to hang in the rafters, you need to not only be an exceptional talent, but you need to have earned your degree, something that the 34-year-old Steph accomplished this past May.
Curry had a decorated three-year collegiate career, earning First-Team All-Conference every year and setting an NCAA record of 162 three-pointers in one season. Congrats to Steph Curry on this much-deserved honor!
JEANIE BUSS
Jeanie Buss Walks Back Wild Russell Westbrook Claim
In a recent interview, Jeanie Buss gave an insane quote regarding Russell Westbrookās first year in Los Angeles, calling him the Lakersā best player!
In an interview with The Athletic, Buss said: āFrom my point of view, (Westbrook) was our best player last year. He played pretty much every single game, showed up, worked hardā¦Itās really tough to win when Anthony Davis isnāt on the court. LeBron was hurt a lot of the season. But Russ showed up every game and played hard every night. And, you know, I just really appreciate him for who he is and what he brings to the team."
While Westbrook is certainly a Hall of Fame talent, itās an absurd claim to say he was better than LeBron James, who put up an MVP-caliber season before getting injured. The interviewer, Sam Amick, was justifiably confused by her stance, and so he reached back out to Buss for confirmation. Buss wrote back via text message: āThe word I should have used was āconsistent,āā before adding āhe played 78 games last season.ā
