DRAYMOND GREEN

Draymond Green is Stepping Away from the Warriors Following Poole Altercation

By now I’m sure everyone is aware of the Jordan Poole and Draymond Green altercation that took place during a Warriors practice. For the few that are not, TMZ released footage of the incident this past friday. The video shows Poole and Green exchanging some words before they get chest-to-chest with one another. This resulted in Jordan Poole pushing Draymond which he then responded with a superman punch before everyone came over to break up the altercation.

Green held a press conference on Saturday where he apologized for the incident and indicated he is stepping away from the team for a few days to let everything ‘heal’. “I was wrong.” said Green as he apologized to the team, organization, Jordan Poole, the Poole family, and his own family.

Steve Kerr called the decision for Draymond to step away a “mutual decision.” Kerr has also indicated there is no return date set just yet but Draymond will play in the Warriors regular season opener against the Lakers on October 18th. Furthermore, Kerr has challenged the entire organization to be better when it comes to these leaks.

DWIGHT HOWARD

Dwight Howard Hints at Retirement

On a recent episode of the “All The Smoke” podcast veteran NBA big man, Dwight Howard, came out and said he might retire because there are “no teams that really wanna allow me to play.” Howard is currently a free agent and has come out and said he very much still wants to play in the NBA.

Howard stated the following on the podcast, “I wanna play, but at the same time there’s like no teams that really wanna allow me to play. That’s how I’ve been feeling from the last situation with the [Los Angeles] Lakers. I felt like I did enough to help them win a championship to really deserve a spot on the team and a chance to start and get big minutes, and it didn’t happen. So after that I was like, ‘Man, I don’t wanna have to bust my a– for another whole summer, train three-a-days, go on a crazy diet, do all this s— and then get back to a team and sit on the bench or not get to really help somebody win.”

Recently, Howard has talked about other potential chapters in his life such as the idea of joining the WWE. This does seem like the path he may take if his legendary NBA career comes to an end soon. The 36-year-old has accomplished a long list of achievements during his time in the league such as 3x defensive player of the year, 8x all-star, and a NBA championship. Throughout his time he holds very impressive career-long averages of 15.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.

VICTOR WEMBANYAMA

Victor Wembanyama Put the NBA on Notice

Victor Wembanyama is an NBA prospect like no other. Standing at a towering 7’4” with an 8 foot wingspan this young basketball phenom is being praised as the best NBA prospect since LeBron james. Since the young superstar has begun to shine, he is receiving praise from many NBA all-stars and retired NBA legends.

Most recently, Steph Curry has come out calling Victor a ‘cheat code’ while comparing him to a 2K create-a-player. Earlier in the week, LeBron called Victor an ‘alien’ and said he has never seen anyone as tall and fluid as him. An NBA executive came out and said “He’s not a franchise-altering talent. He’s a league-altering talent.” Even popular ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski said in an interview that "Victor Wembanyama is the singular greatest prospect in NBA draft history."

It is safe to say the entire NBA and basketball universe is very aware of Victor Wembanyama by now. After a few stellar showcases in the G-league, he is ready to take the NBA by storm. Because of this incredible value for the first overall pick this year, NBA commissioner Adam Silver has already warned teams against tanking ahead of the 2022-23 season. There is no question that Victor will go first overall in the upcoming NBA draft and because of this it will be hard to blame teams for tanking.
