🏀 JR Smith Wants Credit for 2016 Finals

Cardiac Kemba lands in Dallas, Luka & Giannis trade compliments, and J.R. Smith wants credit for 2016 Finals move.

Have a great day!

KEMBA WALKER

Cardiac Kemba Lands in Dallas

The Mavericks have been desperately missing a secondary playmaker after the departure of Jalen Brunson in free agency, and it appears they've found their guy in four-time All-Star Kemba Walker.

Dallas’ interest in Walker is well documented, as the team previously tried to sign him to a max contract in the summer of 2019 but lost out to the Boston Celtics. While Walker didn’t quite live up to that max contract, mostly due to injuries, he did average 22.8 points and 5.6 assists during his time there.

Walker was waived by the Pistons last month after being salary dumped by the Knicks on draft night. Since then, Walker has been keeping himself in shape and waiting for his next opportunity. During a recent appearance on “The Woj Pod,” Walker reiterated his faith in himself and his game, saying: "I just know that I have the ability to help someone, to help a team. I know I can still play basketball at a high level."

LUKA & GIANNIS

Luka & Giannis Trade Compliments

Luka Doncic may be the betting favorite for MVP, but according to him, Giannis Antetokounmpo is “the best player in the NBA.” The two superstars faced off Sunday night, which ended with the Greek Freak handing the Mavs their fourth straight loss.

After the game, Doncic, who had an impressive game with 27 points, 12 assists, and 5 rebounds called Giannis “the best player in the NBA right now” and added that “he's almost impossible to stop. It's really fun to see him play, but it's not that fun to go against him."

Antetokounmpo narrowly outperformed the Slovenian star with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 4assists and had plenty of nice things to say about Doncic after hearing his earlier remarks. Giannis called Luka “an incredible player, incredible talent, [and] arguably one of the most talented players I've ever seen in my lifetime.”

JR SMITH

J.R. Smith Wants Credit for 2016 Finals Move

LeBron James has had no shortage of incredible postseason moments, but his chase-down block in Game 7 of the 2016 Finals might just be his crowning achievement. Although, if you ask J.R. Smith, he would tell you it was really more of a two-man operation.

While on a podcast, Smith argued that he doesn't get credit for his defense during that possession, saying: "I’m the one who made [Iguodala] slow the ball up,” which would've allowed James that extra split second to enter the fray and make the iconic block.

Smith brought this play up and the lack of perceived credit for it, to point out a discrepancy in how he believes credit is assigned. Namely, he thinks he should get credit for this play and doesn't, but gets all the blame for losing the 2018 Finals because he forgot the score in Game 1. Smith explained: “you don’t give me credit for [my defense] because [James] got the block. But you give me credit for the loss because I [rebounded] the ball and dribbled it out."
