Have a fantastic day!
KEVIN DURANT
Kevin Durant Explains His Trade Request
Kevin Durant spoke to the media for the first time since he famously requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets and didn’t hold back. KD expressed that he had “some doubt” about the Nets’ culture and stability, but after voicing them to owner Joe Tsai, he’s committed to moving forward with the team.
It seems KD's biggest frustration with the Nets was that the team he signed up for isn't the one that they have now. He said: "I committed to this organization for four years last summer, with the idea that we were going to play with that group that we kinda went on that little round to the second round with [in the 2020-21 postseason].”
Between Kyrie Irving’s vaccine stance and James Harden’s trade demand, the Nets’ championship hopes were torpedoed and left Durant understandably questioning if this was the best place for him. While Durant obviously wasn’t traded, he didn’t express disappointment or surprise that he wasn’t moved. Nets fans have been through a lot this past year, but if Durant is as focused and committed as he says he is, those bad feelings could quickly go away.
GIANNIS & STEPH
Giannis Says Steph Curry is the Best Player in the World
Giannis Antetokounmpo may be the number one player on ESPN's NBArank, but the Milwaukee Bucks superstar had a surprising answer when asked who he thinks is the best player in the world.
At Bucks media day, Antetokounmpo said: "I think the best player in the world is the person that is the last man standing. It's the person that takes his team to the Finals, the finish line and helps them win the game... that's how I view it. I believe the best player in the world is Steph Curry."
Naturally, this news made its way to Curry, who was flattered and appreciative. Curry also agreed with Antetokounmpo's thought process and made sure to reciprocate the compliment, saying “I was thinking the same thing about him last year, coming off their run."
STEPH CURRY
Steph Curry Publicly Speaks Out About Robert Sarver
Steph Curry has spoken publicly for the first time regarding Robert Sarver and revealed that he had had private conversations with commissioner Adam Silver after Sarver’s initial sanctions were determined.
Sarver’s punishment of a $10M fine and a one-year suspension was universally considered too light of sentencing given the harrowing results of the NBA’s investigation. Players and sponsors made sure to let their voices be heard, and with enough public and private pressure, it appears Sarver will sell the team. In the wake of this announcement, Curry said: "I think the outcome was exactly what should have happened."
In Curry's recent Rolling Stone interview, he expressed how upset he was that he and the Warriors didn't boycott the 2014 Clippers playoff game in the wake of Donald Sterling’s racist remarks. While it's incredibly upsetting that a similar situation has come up again, and so soon at that, Curry is making sure he isn't sitting on the sidelines for this battle.
