🏀 LeBron Wants an NBA Team in Vegas
Boogie Cousins admits his mistakes, Warriors' Myers responds to Draymond Green's punch heard around the world, and LeBron James calls his shot.
Have a great weekend!
BOOGIE COUSINS
Boogie Cousins Admits His Mistakes
DeMarcus Cousins is just looking for a chance. The former four-time All-Star recently gave a candid interview with Yahoo Sports where he didn’t shy away from talking about some of his missteps.
Cousins said: “Have I made mistakes? Absolutely. Have I done things the wrong way? Absolutely. For that, I’m very apologetic. But I’ve done even more things the correct way and I’ve done even more positive things compared to my negatives… I’m just asking for a chance to show my growth as a man and a player.”
Cousins said it would mean everything to him to be back in the NBA, and he’s certainly backing it up. Cousins has been putting in the work every day to keep himself in tip-top basketball shape, even though there’s no guarantee he’ll play again. These activities include basketball drills, weight lifting, conditioning, and body maintenance.
Cousins knows he has a reputation, despite glowing reviews from prominent coaches like Steve Kerr and Michael Malone, from his recent stops in Golden State and Denver. He also knows that he’s not the face-of-the-franchise kind of guy anymore, and unlike a lot of other older veterans, he’s fully ready to embrace a lesser role. All he needs is the chance.
DRAYMOND & POOLE
Warriors' Myers Responds to Draymond Green's Punch Heard Around the World
Twitter was sent into a frenzy when reports got out that Draymond Green punched Jordan Poole at practice. Reportedly, the two men had engaged in some verbal sparring, which led to pushing and ended when Green swung at Poole. The two were then immediately separated.
The whole NBA world waited to find out what would happen, and thankfully, Warriors GM Bob Myers shared some insight. According to Myers, everyone is fine, and Green has apologized to the team with Poole in the room. He added that he “doesn’t think” Green will miss any games, but any suspension or punishment will be handled internally. There were also rumblings that this fight had to do with either player’s future salaries, but Myers squashed that rumor. He believes it was simply a matter of trash talk which got out of hand.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Green has challenged a teammate, the most famous example being Kevin Durant, although that altercation didn’t end in violence. Interestingly, Poole and Green have a bit of history too, dating back to a verbal altercation last season on the Warriors’ bench. That issue was believed to be resolved.
LEBRON JAMES
LeBron James Calls His Shot
LeBron James has made no secret of his dreams of owning an NBA franchise, but his latest comments are bold even for him. After a stellar performance in a preseason game at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena, James was discussing the possibility of the NBA expanding to Las Vegas when he bluntly told the press room: “I want the team here, Adam [Silver]. Thank you."
This isn’t the first time James has made his interest in a Las Vegas team known, after having previously revealed this information on an episode of his YouTube show "The Shop: Uninterrupted."
But while LeBron James has a net worth of over $1B and is a part owner of some major sports franchises, including Liverpool FC and the Boston Red Sox, among others, he’s likely going to need to find an ownership group to support his bid. The market for NBA teams is incredibly hot right now, especially when you factor in the upcoming media rights deal and all of the glitz and glamor of Vegas.
Still, LeBron has accomplished everything he’s set out to do in his career on and off the court, so when the time comes, you can bet he’s going to find a way to make it happen.
