🏀 Russ Blames Lakers For Injury

Warriors handle business on ring night, Jerry Jones drops f-bomb on Robert Kraft, and Russell Westbrook blames latest injury on benching.

Finish the week off strong!

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

Warriors Handle Business on Ring Night

The Warriors walked out of Chase Center with a win and their own 16-carat, yellow diamond championship rings. The rings had some not-so-subtle nods to the unique postseason the Warriors had; 16 carats of diamonds symbolized their 16 playoff victories, while its 43 baguettes were in reference to Curry’s iconic 43-point Game 4 performance.

Defending champions are now 60-16 on opening night after the Warriors caught fire in the third quarter en route to a comfortable win over LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers. Arguably the biggest takeaway from the win was the Warriors' enviable depth. Kerr deployed an 11-man rotation, which drew comparisons to the incredibly deep 2014-15 Warriors, albeit a younger version. In other words, this team could get scary!

JERRY JONES & ROBERT KRAFT

Jerry Jones Drops F-Bomb on Robert Kraft

Emotions got the better of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones at a recent NFL owners' meeting when he laid into Patriots owner Robert Kraft. In the wake of a vote around negotiating commissioner Roger Goodell’s next contract, he reportedly told Kraft: “Don’t f--- with me.”

Jones was the only owner to vote against the motion, but it's pretty on-brand for Jones as he's had issues with Goodell's contract before. Jones believes that Goodell's contract should be paid mainly in bonuses over actual salary, and he also believes that the current bonus pool isn't strict enough when it comes to Goodell meeting new goals and targets.

There were rumblings after signing his last contract that Goodell could call it quits, but it appears likely he'll stick around for at least another two or three years, and from the look of it, Jerry Jones is ready for him to move on.

RUSSELL WESTBROOK

Russell Westbrook Blames Latest Injury on Benching

Russell Westbrook’s latest comments are certainly not gonna win the former MVP any favors. After an opening night loss to the Warriors, Russ spoke about the hamstring injury he suffered in the Lakers' final preseason game and bluntly blamed it on having to come off the bench.

Westbrook complained that it wasn’t something he’s accustomed to before saying: “didn't even know what to do pregame. Being honest, I was trying to figure out how to stay warm and loose.”

While it’s true that Russ isn't used to coming off the bench, having done it only 17 times in his career, it seems to directly conflict with his public posturing of “whatever the team needs.” Going into this season, we all knew the Lakers would provide no shortage of drama, but it looks like we could be seeing it sooner than expected.
