RUSSELL WESTBROOK
The Russell Westbrook Lakers Saga Begins to Heat Up Once Again
Coming into the 2022-23 NBA season, Russell Westbrook’s place on the Los Angeles Lakers has been one of the largest storylines so far. After a rough first year with the Lakers to say the least, Westbrook enters the season on the final year of his contract. With the addition of Patrick Beverley to the roster, this has only created more controversy revolving around Westbrook’s role during the upcoming season.
Westbrook and Beverley have had some beef in the past and during Wednesday’s game, Russ showed some frustration. In the beginning of the game Westbrook did not join the team in the pregame huddle after announcing their starting lineup. Then during the game itself, following a foul on Westbrook, Beverley had called for a team huddle in which Westbrook refused to be a part of. Westbrook had also been visibly frustrated throughout the game after getting chippy with Jaden McDaniels and there's no telling where this frustration stems from. Westbrook ultimately finished the game with five points, four assists, and three rebounds in 25 minutes played.
After an offseason filled with trade speculation and rumors, there is no telling what the Lakers will do with Russell Westbrook at this point. There have been trade packages leaked with the Pacers that have included Myles Turner and Buddy Hield which would be most ideal for them if they were to make a move during the season. At the end of the day if the Lakers want to make another serious title run, they are going to have to figure things out quickly.
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
Washington Commanders Owner Dan Snyder Claims to 'have dirt' on NFL Owners & Goodell
Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder has claimed to have used private investigators to gather secrets so he can “blow up” several NFL owners as well as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Snyder told ESPN that “all the owners hate each other,” and claimed “the NFL is a mafia.”
The league has come out and said they are aware Snyder is trying to track owners but none of them would reveal how they figured out he was doing so. It is unclear how many owners he has dirt on, but one source came out and said that he has dirt on Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones has recently come out and told the media he “might not be able” to protect Snyder any longer.
Recently, a Commanders’ spokesperson has come out and denied all claims that Snyder has made. He called it “simply ridiculous and utterly false” that Snyder ever said anything about blowing up the league. Several owners have come out and said that this is just a tactic to scare away owners from voting to remove Snyder from the league. Whatever the result in this situation may be, the Washington Commanders will look to turn things around as a franchise moving forward.
ZION WILLIAMSON
Pelicans' Zion Williamson Says He's Fine After Tweaking Ankle
Coming off an impressive season, the New Orleans Pelicans are only looking to make more noise this upcoming year. Last year they were able to take two games from the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs without their young superstar Zion Williamson who missed the entire season with a broken foot. Having him back on the court and healthy is going to be crucial if the Pelicans want to make a serious run at the NBA title. With that being said, only a few preseason games in there has already been an injury scare.
Williamson tweaked his ankle in a preseason game against the Miami Heat and will be listed as day-to-day moving forward. No need for Pelicans fans to worry as Zion said "It was one of those things where it happened, and I popped back up, like, 'Yeah, I'm straight.’” The Pelicans sent Williamson back to the locker room and had doctors examine it because they do not want to risk another injury for their young star. After only good news from the docs Zion said personally he feels fine.
New Orleans will finish out the preseason on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks before opening up the regular season in Brooklyn against the Nets. Through a total of 85 games in his career Zion has averaged a very impressive 25.7 points and 7 rebounds. The young star will only look to add to those numbers this upcoming season if ultimately he can stay healthy.
