FURKAN KORKMAZ

Furkan Korkmaz Ejected & Attacked at EuroBasket

Philadelphia 76ers forward and Turkish player Furkan Korkmaz was attacked by multiple Georgia players after their game on Sunday. The Turkish federation vice president told reporters that Turkey would leave the EuroBasket tournament if the security footage of the incident was not released.

Prior to the incident, Korkmaz and Georgia player Duda Sanadze were both ejected from the game after an altercation they had in the fourth quarter. This even ended up causing fans to throw cups onto the court after their scuffle. After the game Kormaz did end up escaping without any injuries.

On another note, Turkey has also officially protested the game when an apparent 22 seconds had disappeared from the game clock during the fourth quarter altercation. This game is crucial for the result in Group A play for the tournament. Following the loss, Turkey has dropped to third place with Georgia bumping up to fifth.

STEPH CURRY

Steph Curry Talks About Possibility of Playing for the Hornets

Obviously Steph Curry is in great ties with the Golden State Warriors and has no plans on leaving in the upcoming years. Steph has mentioned multiple times wanting to even retire with the Warriors because of how much it means to him. Although he did leave open the possibility of playing for another team this past Thursday.

In the midst of receiving the key to the city of Charlotte, Curry brought up the potential of playing for his hometown team. Curry said, “I’m not breaking any news right now, and I’m not making any promises. All I would say is if there was a team that I did want to play for that was not named the Warriors, that would be it.”

I don’t think Steph is leaving anytime soon fresh off of his fourth championship banner with the team. However, Steph and LaMelo would be a very exciting backcourt to watch. For now Charlotte has to focus on building around the young star while the Warriors will be right back at the top looking for another NBA Championship.

J.R. SMITH

J.R. Smith Says He Was '100 Percent' Blackballed From NBA

Just two years after being on a championship Lakers team, J.R. Smith believes that he is being held out of the league on purpose. Smith had an interview with Complex Sports and said that he is “100 percent” being blackballed from the NBA.

Smith also included a list of players such as Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford, Nick Young, and Isaiah Thomas that are also being blackballed.

Joe Johnson is currently 41 years old which would make him the second-oldest active player in the NBA. Jamal Crawford officially retired back in March so he can’t really be blackballed. Nick Young hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2018-19 season and is now 37 years old. Isaiah Thomas did play 22 games last year for the Lakers (4), Mavs (1), and Hornets (17). Although now he is a free agent heading into the 2022-23 season.

As for J.R. Smith, he appeared in 16 games for the Lakers between both regular season and playoffs back in the bubble during the 2019-20 season. He has not been given a chance by another team since then. Instead, Smith has taken up golf for the University of North Carolina A&T. So who knows if anyone will give the former NBA champion another shot at a roster spot.
