STEPH & UNDER ARMOUR

Steph Curry Nearing $1B Lifetime Deal with Under Armour

Steph Curry, already the highest-paid player for this upcoming NBA season, looks like he’s about to become a whole lot richer. Curry recently revealed via a Rolling Stone interview that he’s close to finalizing a billion-dollar lifetime contract with Under Armour.

Curry first joined Under Armour in 2013 after a disaster of an effort by Nike to retain him. He instead signed a $4M contract with UA and immediately became one of the league's best and most popular players. Curry eventually re-upped with the brand on a $215M deal that pays him $20M annually, another bargain, but it expires in 2024.

While Curry has been the face of Under Armour for years now, this lifetime contract is a bit of a surprise, given Steph previously threatened to leave the brand altogether. Curry has notably butted heads with UA founder Kevin Plank for business and personal reasons, but it appears things between the company and superstar are back on track.

MICHAEL JORDAN

Michael Jordan Launches His Own Luxury Tequila

Three years ago, five NBA team owners, including Michael Jordan and Jeannie Buss, created the tequila label Cincoro. Since then, the brand has sold 1.5M bottles nationally and won 23 awards. Building off that success, the group is launching a new luxury tequila, Cincoro Gold, at $349.99 a bottle.

The idea for Cincoro was born at a dinner amongst the five owners, where they discovered a shared love for the spirit. From there, they got to work, making over 1,000 tequilas before finding the right one.

Cincoro is one of the fastest-growing spirits categories in the U.S., up almost 17% from last year while growing its value by over 27%. Cincoro Gold goes on sale next month in limited quantities.

STEPH CURRY

Steph Curry Reveals One of His Biggest Regrets

Steph Curry's latest interview has provided his fans with no shortage of insights from the superstar point guard, including one of his biggest regrets. It turns out Curry is still upset at how he handled the 2014 Clippers-Warriors playoff game after then-owner Donald Sterling was exposed for horrific racism.

Curry said that the plan for him and his teammates was to walk off the court immediately after tipoff and boycott the game entirely. Instead, they followed the Clippers' lead and wore their warmup shirts inside out before taking them off and placing them at midcourt before the game.

The idea behind the boycott was to signal to the league that the players wouldn't accept anything less than the harshest punishment for Sterling. Sterling was eventually fined $2.5M and forced to sell the team.

Curry’s commitment to this belief eight years later is a testament to how the superstar feels about social injustice and could be a signal that he plans on using his platform more in the future.
