The NBA Launches a New State-Of-The-Art App

The NBA has launched a new app, and it’s clearly taken inspiration from TikTok and Snapchat. The app’s feed resembles TikTok’s vertically-oriented, curated approach to social videos while also integrating expiring videos of top plays and dunks called “stories”.

Launching alongside the app is a new membership program called NBA ID, which like the app, is free. Membership in NBA ID gives users access to exclusive content as well as a variety of promotional offers and voting opportunities. It will also grant users access to the NBA Vault, which will contain over 3,000 hours of archival NBA footage for free, including every NBA Finals game since 2000.

NBA ID will also have a connection to NBA League Pass. In addition to the cost of League Pass being dramatically lowered, your League Pass account can now be linked to your NBA ID account. When using League Pass through the app: “the live streams will feature higher video quality, lower streaming latency, and a seamless user experience.”

PHOENIX SUNS

Who is Going to Purchase the Phoenix Suns?

The Phoenix Suns are on the market, and the team is expected to draw significant interest and potentially a record sale price. Here are a few high-profile names who could look to get in on the bidding war.

The front-runner is likely Oracle founder Larry Ellison. Ellison has previously tried to join the NBA ownership ranks on two separate occasions after bidding on the New Orleans Hornets and Golden State Warriors. With an estimated net worth of $94B and previous NBA interest, he seems like the most logical choice. Other tech figures who could look to get involved are Jeff Bezos and Laurene Powell Jobs. Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is currently a minority owner of the Wizards.

Outside of tech, you have names like Bob Iger, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Shaquille O'Neal. None of them have the financial might to make a move happen on their own, but all have expressed some level of interest in owning a professional team. Iger was approached by Celtics co-owner Stephen Pagliuca earlier this year to buy the Chelsea football club, while Mayweather and O’Neal have expressed a desire to own an NBA team of their own, but their preferences would be Las Vegas and Orlando, respectively.

KEMBA WALKER

Where Will Kemba Walker End Up Next Season?

Kemba Walker is currently a member of the Detroit Pistons but is unlikely to be there long. While Detroit may prefer a trade, it appears he will eventually be bought out. Here are a few places that could make sense for the former four-time All-Star:

Charlotte Hornets

Everyone loves a homecoming, and while that might be enough reason to want Walker back in Charlotte, there are basketball reasons that justify the fit. Not only do they have a need for a backup point guard, but Walker could be a great mentor to All-Star LaMelo Ball.

Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks have one of the more enviable backcourts in the league after acquiring Dejounte Murray, but Walker could be a valuable depth piece barring injury.

The Hawks are clearly all-in, but building out your bench is an important component to making a deep playoff run. Walker, when healthy, is a hell of a player and well worth a flier.

Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have no shortage of guards on their roster, but the news of Lonzo Ball’s knee issues opens the door slightly for another ball-handling guard.

The Bulls currently have Goran Dragic, Alex Caruso, Coby White, and Ayo Dosunmu ready to fill in for Ball if he misses the entire season, so it's unlikely Walker ends up a Bull, but it's definitely on the table.
